About:
Melvin de la Motte was a trial attorney in San Luis Obispo, California for 30 years. He became interested in financial matters while in law school and started publishing a newsletter about mutual funds in 1992. Many friends who received de la Motte’s newsletter felt it would be helpful if their children knew the fundamentals of money management. For one year, de la Motte sent a weekly lesson to the teenage children of his clients. These weekly lessons later became the 50 chapters in the book Saving Green. A group of home-school parents asked Mr. de la Motte if he would teach a class to home-school students about money management. The book Saving Green was the guide for that class. Many of the parents attended the class and felt the book was also helpful to adults who were novices in money management matters. The parents encouraged de la Motte to publish his book. Saving Green is now available to the public.
